weekend inventory

Before I get to the weekend part of things, let me just tell you that I went to see my doctor today and he said I have lost my mucus plug, 1cm dilated and 70% effaced.  Hallelujah!  Seriously, just knowing that this is getting close to the end is like a little gift from heaven for me.  Nobody really tells you how crummy the last month is.  I'm here to tell you, it's not fun.  Who cares though because I'm only thinking positively right now!

All right, back to the weekend.  Friday, I spent the afternoon with my friend Cara and her new son, River Elwood.  He is beyond precious.  Beyond.  I was so excited to see her after just giving birth to Baby River on Labor Day and to meet her sweet bundle of handsome.  They did not disappoint.  I was dying to ask her all kinds of questions about delivery.  It's funny how when discussing pregnancy, labor and delivery all sense of modesty goes out the window.  Everyone knows that the baby comes out of your Queen Victoria, but there is such a lack of embarrassment when it comes to talking openly about all the other things that come with being pregnant when you are talking amongst other mothers or soon-to-be mothers, and I love it.  I love that I can share and that my ladies can share with me details about the most intimate parts and nobody even flinches, because when the outcome is an adorable and healthy baby, who really feels shy about discussing mucus plugs?

Saturday, husband and I ran errands and I came home to make a "labor cake".  What's a labor cake you ask?  It's an extremely decadent chocolate cake that is supposed to kick start labor.  It didn't put me into labor but it was intensely chocolaty and made my pregnant soul scream "Thank you!".  That night DJ had a hockey game and I got a chance to talk to my friend Angie all about the weeks leading up to her having her sweet daughter Lucy, who smiled and coo-ed at the boys as they skated back and forth and won their hockey game 5-1.

Sunday, was more running around followed by a super long nap on the couch.  Such a perfect end to the weekend.
